Clyde H. Stucker, 101, formerly of South Bend, died Thursday, October 6th, in the home of his daughter in Indianapolis where he had lived since 2007. He was born June 23, 1910, on the family farm near Metropolis, Illinois, and had lived in South Bend since 1942, coming from Gary, Indiana. On March 4, 1942, he married Minnie A. Powers in Crown Point, Indiana. Mr. Stucker retired from The Torrington Company in 1975 after 30 years of service in supervision. His wife, Minnie, his sister, Katy Westerman, and his brother, Norman Stucker, preceded him in death. Besides his daughter, Beverly Stucker Precious, and his son-in-law, Brent A. Precious, survivors include a cousin, Wendell Riepe of Metropolis, Illinois, and two nieces, Bobbie Ponda of Parker, Colorado, and Billie Zeller of Hebron, Indiana. Mr. Stucker filled his retirement with travel and helping his daughter and son-in-law restore their Victorian home in The Old Northside Historic District using his considerable woodworking skills. Well into his late 90s, Mr. Stucker traveled to Ireland, England, Quebec, Curacao, Arizona and Florida with his family while wearing his trademark ties. He was a member of the Church of Christ, Niles, Michigan. A private burial graveside was held for the family at Riverview Cemetery.
